What’s new in Unpixel

Every release, in plain English. All 1.x updates are free for license holders.

1.0.0

First release

Unpixel is here. Press ⇧⌘2, drag over anything on your screen, and the text is on your clipboard.

Capture

  • Global shortcut (default ⇧⌘2), customizable, no Accessibility permission needed.
  • Crosshair selection on every display with a live size label. Hold Space to move the selection; Esc or right-click cancels.
  • On-device text recognition with Apple’s Vision framework — Accurate and Fast modes, automatic language detection or a fixed language (about 30 languages), optional language correction.
  • Keep line breaks as they appear, or join lines into paragraphs (re-joining words hyphenated across lines).
  • Liquid Glass confirmation bubble with a preview of what was copied; optional sound.

More than text

  • QR codes and barcodes (QR, Aztec, PDF417, Data Matrix, EAN, UPC, Code 39/93/128 and more), with an option to open QR links automatically.
  • Links detected and filed under Links.
  • From Clipboard: read an image you’ve copied.
  • Open Image…: PNG, JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, WebP and multi-page PDFs. Drop files on the menu bar icon, too.

License & updates

  • Activate with your license key on the Activate screen or in Settings → License — or straight from the thank-you page with “Activate in Unpixel”.
  • Deactivate This Mac (Settings → License) frees the slot so you can move your license to another Mac.
  • Check for Updates… in the menu, plus an optional automatic check that reads a small public file on this website.

History & automation

  • Searchable history in the menu bar with All / Text / Links / QR Codes filters, click to copy again, stored locally and size-limited.
  • URL scheme: unpixel://capture, clipboard, open, history, settings — for Raycast, Alfred and Shortcuts.
  • Launch at login, native Settings window, welcome guide.
