Terms of Service

The deal, in plain English: a one-time license for your Macs, sold through Dodo Payments.

Effective October 12, 2026

The short version You buy a license once and can use Unpixel on as many Macs as your license covers. Don’t share or resell your key. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as Merchant of Record. Refunds within 14 days. Use Unpixel only on content you’re allowed to copy.

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and TODO: Your full legal name or company name, TODO: Street address, City, Postcode, Country (“we”, “us”), the maker of Unpixel (the “App”). By buying, downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you’re using the App for an organization, you accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Purchases and Merchant of Record

Orders are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record and authorized reseller. Dodo Payments handles payment processing, sales tax and VAT, and invoicing, and its Buyer Terms apply to the payment transaction itself. Prices are shown in US dollars on our website; any applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. The price is a one-time payment — there is no subscription and nothing renews.

3. Delivery

Your license key is shown on the confirmation page right after payment and emailed to the address you used at checkout. The App can be downloaded from our website at any time. If you don’t receive your key, check your spam folder, use the customer portal, or contact us.

4. Your license

  • We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the version of the App you bought, on up to the number of Macs your license covers (1, 2 or 3) at the same time. Business and personal use are both fine.
  • You can move a license between your own Macs by deactivating one (Settings → License → Deactivate This Mac) and activating another.
  • Your license includes all updates within the same major version (for example, every 1.x release). A future major version may be offered as a separate purchase; your current version keeps working.
  • The App checks your license with Dodo Payments’ license service when activated and periodically afterwards, as described in our Privacy Policy. If it can’t connect, it keeps working offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check.

5. What you may not do

  • Share, publish, sell or transfer your license key, or use it on more Macs than you paid for.
  • Circumvent, disable or tamper with licensing or activation.
  • Copy, modify, or reverse engineer the App, except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction.
  • Resell, rent or redistribute the App.

6. Acceptable use

Unpixel is a local, user-initiated tool: it reads only what you select, when you select it. You are responsible for what you capture and how you use it. Respect copyright, the confidentiality of meetings and documents, and the privacy of others — for example, follow your organization’s rules and the law before copying information shown in a call or a protected document. Don’t use the App to monitor people without their knowledge or for unlawful scraping or surveillance.

7. Refunds

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee, described in our Refund Policy. When a payment is refunded or charged back, the associated license key is deactivated.

8. Updates and support

We aim to keep Unpixel working well on supported versions of macOS and to answer support email promptly, but we can’t guarantee that every future macOS release will be supported immediately or that the App will be maintained forever.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what the App and this website do with data. In short: recognition happens on your Mac and captures are never uploaded.

10. Disclaimer

Text recognition is never perfect. The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Always check important text — like amounts, codes or legal wording — before relying on it. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that can’t be waived.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

12. Termination

Your license ends automatically if you materially breach these Terms (for example, by sharing your key), or if the purchase is refunded or charged back. You can stop using the App at any time.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of TODO: Country (and state, if applicable) whose laws govern the Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you bought applies to that purchase; changes apply to later purchases and updates. We’ll update the effective date above when we change them.
